Annual Notice for Oregon's SEED Survey

Plant growing in hand

North Marion is deeply committed to helping every student learn, grow, and thrive. This commitment includes providing students opportunities to provide feedback and input to continuously improve their education experience. This year, ODE has developed The Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey, which will help ODE gather information about the educational experiences of students in Oregon. The information gathered will be shared with districts, to help us develop a fuller picture of our local contexts and make strategic modifications to the materials, instruction, and related academic supports that we offer students.

The SEED Survey will be delivered as part of our state testing process.  It will be offered to students in 3rd through 11th grades (including 9th and 10th grade at the high school level--who do not participate in annual state testing).  If you would like to learn more about the SEED Survey or review the survey questions, simply visit ODE's SEED Survey Page.  Questions can be reviewed by clicking on the SEED Survey Items link.

Oregon law (House Bill 2656) allows Parents or guardians to decline, either verbally or in writing, to have their student participate in the SEED Survey. Schools will provide parents with notice of administration and the process for declining participation at least 5 days before administering the SEED Survey. Students may also decline, at any time, either verbally or in writing to participate. Students may also decline to answer individual questions on the SEED survey.

Below you will find additional information on the SEED Survey, as well as a copy of the Opt-Out form.

If you have any questions please contact your school's principal, or reach out to our District Assessment Coordinator - Desiree Kiesel at desiree.kiesel@nmarion.k12.or.us.
