North Marion Students at Fun Run

Greetings North Marion Families,

I hope you are enjoying this amazing Oregon Fall as Mother Nature seems to be doing her best to share a little weather for everyone!

I want to thank you for your efforts to stay engaged in supporting our schools and your students. We know it is a very busy time. It was wonderful and inspiring to see so many of you at our student-led conferences this week.  It is heartwarming to see families visiting their children’s schools and classrooms and creating learning partnerships with teachers and support staff that are bound to strengthen their students’ experiences at school. Thank you. When school staff and families work together you are unstoppable!  And thank you to our Parent Teacher Organization for all you did to support us this week.  Our staff really appreciated and felt appreciated by the awesome meals and snacks you provided during those long but productive days!

I also wanted to thank you for your involvement and support of our spirit week and homecoming activities last week.  It was so much fun to visit our schools and classrooms and see students and staff participating in and enjoying the spirit week and homecoming traditions. The games and matches, the dances, the practice for dances,  the dress up, the fun runs, powderpuff football, brute volleyball, and the many other activities involved take a lot of time and effort. Thanks to all of you who helped our school staff make these fun traditions possible and for coming out to support! Our kids love seeing you there!

Finding What We Look For

I was in the primary school the other day and I asked one of our students how he and his class were able to stay in such an amazingly straight line and follow directions so well.  His instant reply was “Magic!” Writer Christopher Moore said, “Children see magic because they look for it.   Our  perceptive kindergarten friend knew his class had achieved something “nearly impossible.”  How did they do it? “Magic,” we were told, but the pride in their eyes gave them away. They knew they had worked together to accomplish a difficult task and succeeded. Thank you for partnering with us to look for the magic and miracles in our children's learning, in their growth, and in their wonderful imaginations. Thank you for showing them how to work together, to practice well, and to believe in each other in ways that ensure they will always look for and see the magic in themselves. I look forward to seeing you at school.

With Spirit,

Bill
