After a multi-stage selection process in mid-March, we selected a new Business Manager for the North Marion School District–Kim Doud will serve as our new Business Manager, effective July 1st. She will be taking over for Linda Murray, who will be retiring at the end of this school year. The district is grateful to Linda for her 24 years of service and the tradition of excellence and financial stability that she established during her time at North Marion.
Kim currently works as the Director of Finance for the Silver Falls School District. She was named as the Interim Director of Finance beginning in February, 2024, as that district learned about a significant financial shortfall. She was offered the permanent position in July, and has helped stabilize the Silver Falls School District’s budget in her time as Director of Finance.
Kim began her tenure in Silver Falls in 2017 as the Payroll & Benefits Specialist. In 2021, she was promoted to the position of Controller. Prior to Silver Falls, Kim worked in the private sector in accounting-related businesses, with experiences as an office manager, and in payroll and marketing. Kim is a Certified Administrator in School Finance and Operations, and successfully completed the Oregon Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) New Business Manager Institute.
Our selection team consisted of district-level leadership, district office staff, a principal, and a school board member. The team unanimously selected Kim based on her extensive knowledge of school finance in Oregon, and for her experience in managing complex budgets. She also has experience with audits, grant funding, contract negotiations, and human resource management. The team was also impressed by how she could explain the comprehensive nature of school finance in a way that was easy to understand, and her genuine enthusiasm to come to North Marion.
Desiree Kiesel, who served on the selection team, said of Kim, “Kim will be an excellent addition to our team. She is knowledgeable, kind, and focused on finding collaborative solutions to complex problems.”
Kim is excited to join North Marion and says, “I am honored and deeply grateful for the opportunity to join the North Marion School District. I’m passionate about serving a community and team that is dedicated to supporting our schools and making a positive impact on the lives of students and staff.”
As stated above, Kim will begin working for North Marion in July. Linda has agreed to support Kim and the district in this transition periodically in the summer and fall as needed. Kim will be introduced to the School Board and Budget Committee members at the May 19th Budget Committee meeting. We are excited to have Kim Doud joining the North Marion School District.
