North Marion School District Celebrates School Board Recognition Month

School Board Superhero Banner

January marks School Board Recognition Month, and the North Marion School District is joining the statewide initiative to acknowledge, celebrate, and express gratitude to our local school board members for their invaluable contributions to student success.

NMSD Board members invest countless unpaid hours working to ensure the best possible education for our students.  We are proud to take a moment to celebrate School Board Recognition Month and show appreciation for their dedication and commitment to our community.

School board members play a crucial role in representing the views and priorities of fellow citizens regarding the community's public schools, upholding the principle of local control over public education. The primary objective of the School Board is to support student performance and achievement.  They do this by collaborating with the administration and school staff on tasks such as envisioning the district's future, monitoring systems for assessing student learning, evaluating goal attainment, fostering a safe and conducive learning environment, and prioritizing continuous improvement through a thorough examination of issues related to student achievement.

The North Marion School District is grateful for the school board’s ongoing support of our staff and students. The board’s commitment is evident through its presence at extracurricular events, its careful oversight of the district budget, and its leadership in guiding the development of a new strategic plan. Through this consistent engagement, the school board helps ensure that district decisions remain focused on student success and the well-being of our entire school community. Superintendent Busch at the January 12th, 2026 School Board meeting will share Governor Tina Kotek's Proclamation for School Board Recognition Month.
