North Marion’s Soccer Teams Emerge Victorious Again!

North Marion student-athletes bask in the moment after both Girls and Boys soccer teams won the quarterfinals.

Welcome to Aurora, aka Soccer Town, USA! The North Marion Boys and Girls soccer teams both bested their opponents during Saturday, Nov. 5 games, progressing to the semifinals in the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) 4A State Championships.

“The Boys upset the #1 seed, Stayton,” High School Athletic Secretary Anita Whitehead said. “They were trailing 0-2, but came back to win 3-2! It was a thrilling game!”

The Girls Soccer Team drubbed Scappoose 2-0, with Saylor Swanson rocketing in two goals in the first half and goalkeeper Ally Coulombe making several key saves, Girls Soccer Coach Ben Bonser noted.

Now entering the semifinals, both on Nov. 8, the Girls Soccer Team will face Marist Catholic and the Boys Soccer Team will battle Ontario. If they win, they'll head to the finals in the state championship for boys and girls teams will be held on Nov. 12 in Hillsboro.
