Health Textbook Adoption

We want to keep families informed about our health instructional materials and upcoming plans.

This year, our district reviewed available health textbooks to ensure we meet the requirements of Division 22. While this process helps us stay in compliance with state expectations, we want to be very clear: no textbooks will be purchased for the 2026–2027 school year.

Due to current budget constraints, we are pausing a full instructional materials adoption. However, because the state requires districts to formally identify approved materials, we worked with our teachers to review options and determine which textbook would be selected if funding were available.

As part of this process, one state-approved option was identified at each grade level. These materials will be available for families to review during conferences, as well as other upcoming building events, and we encourage you to take a look and ask questions.

Elementary (K–5)
The Oregon Department of Education has approved one option: The Great Body Shop, which is already in use in our elementary schools.

Middle School
Three state-approved options were reviewed by our middle school health teachers. Based on that review, Comprehensive Skills for Middle School (Goodheart-Willcox) was identified as the potential selection.

High School
The state has approved one option: Live Well: Comprehensive High School Health (Human Kinetics).

Again, while we have completed this review to meet state requirements, no new textbooks will be purchased at this time. We remain committed to providing high-quality health instruction using our current resources and will revisit a full adoption process when funding allows.
