The Goal of the NMSD Educator Effectiveness Framework

To ensure North Marion students have the quality teachers they deserve, and to ensure that educators are objectively evaluated and supported in their important work, we need to take acton. We need a process that:

  • Strengthens retention,
  • Supports educator growth,
  • Fosters improvements in student learning, and
  • Factors in the conditions in which teaching professionals work.

A comprehensive, integrated teacher evaluation and development system — driven by practitioner knowledge and experience — is critical. This framework breaks new ground in advancing that mission.

Every child deserves an effective teacher. And every teacher, when evaluated for effectiveness, deserves an objective process that integrates evaluations into ongoing professional growth.

These ideas are fundamental to North Marion's Educator Effectiveness Framework, which seeks to integrate evaluations into a continuum advancing teacher practice and student learning. The Educator Effectiveness Framework was created by teachers, classified personnel, a counselor, a school board member, and administrators who kept high in their minds the idea of quality teachers for students combibed with support for educator and student growth.
