ASB to Hold Veterans Day Breakfast This Week

There will be a Veterans Breakfast at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Commons of North Marion High School.

If you’re a serviceman or servicewoman who loves a short stack of pancakes, get ready to flex your syrup-pouring arm at a free pancake meal, courtesy of the caring students of North Marion High School!

The North Marion Associated Student Body (ASB), a student leadership group, will be hosting a Veterans Day Breakfast at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 11 in the Commons of the High School, 20167 Grim Road NE, Aurora.

The idea behind ASB’s breakfast is to honor servicemen and servicewomen with this heart-warming and belly-filling event on Veterans Day. But ASB students are taking it a step further. They will not only be greeting the visitors, the students will be the ones donning aprons and cooking pancakes, hash browns, and sausages for all of the honored guests.

And get this! The event includes not only a free pancake breakfast, but also a raffle featuring gift certificates to local businesses in the area. Who are all these amazing supporters and what are they doing to help? Read on:

  • The gift certificates are from the following generous donors: Luis’s Taqueria in Woodburn, B’s Bake Shoppe in Canby, Backstop Bar & Grill in Canby, and Wayward Sandwiches in Canby.
  • Granny Fi’s Shortbread in Aurora is donating two bags of shortbread for the raffle.
  • The meal will be far heartier with tasty sausage from Ebner’s Custom Meats in Canby, coffee from the Starbucks in Woodburn, and doughnuts from the Woodburn Safeway.
  • In addition, Almanac Aurora is donating floral arrangements to adorn the tables, so the Commons will have a professional look!

Servicemen and servicewomen can simply appear for a tasty meal, try their luck at the raffle, and enjoy a little company. There is no need to RSVP to the event. In addition, the event also won’t interfere with classes because school will be closed on Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day holiday.

Good timing and great event, thanks to our amazing ASB leaders!
