Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to your Counseling Center. Middle school and adolescence can be a challenging time of life, filled with many transitions and changes. First and foremost, we want you to know that, during the school year, we offer care and support to students undergoing a crisis or life struggles.

What is a school counselor? A school counselor is someone who you probably know through talking about your schedule, grades, and academics as a whole. They are also someone who is there to guide you in building skills and techniques in problem solving in order to get along with peers and to cope with life changes. School counselors can provide short-term individual and small group counseling, as well as crisis response.

Students have several ways that they can request to meet with a School Counselor:

  • Simply let us know between passing times or at lunch (we aim to provide "just in time" support when available)
  • Emailing us or using the “Request a Meeting” form on our Canvas page.
  • Dropping a request slip in the boxes outside of our office. (we check for requests daily)

If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment to meet with a school counselor, please contact one of the two professionals listed below.

From Oregon Department of Education (ODE):

  • The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model helped move school counseling from a  responsive service  provided for some students to a  program  for every student. School counseling programs address more than the highest or lowest performing students or those who are experiencing a crisis.
  • The ASCA National Model reinforced the idea that school counselors help every student improve academic achievement, navigate social and emotional development, and plan for successful careers after graduation. Comprehensive school counseling programs address the diverse needs of all students.
