The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), and Marion County Health Department (MCHD) are monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  Even though Oregon cases have increased, we are following guidance from our state educational agency and public health federal and state agencies.  They recommend people in Oregon take everyday precautions to prevent the spread of many respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 and Influenza.

Schools can play an important role in the effort for prevention and spread of the COVID-19 or Influenza.  Through consultation, collaboration, and coordination with local health departments, our district is taking steps to disseminate information about the disease and its potential transmission within our school community and provide accurate up-to-date information about the outbreak and how to best protect our school community’s health.

Our plans build on everyday practices (e.g., encouraging hand hygiene, monitoring absenteeism, communicating routinely) and staying informed with up-to-date information.  They include minimizing disruption to teaching and learning and help protect the whole school community, including those with special health needs or compromised immune systems.
