Superintendent's Update - March 1, 2024

2nd graders performing for families

Dear North Marion Families,

Last night our students opened the second-grade music program with a beautiful rendition of “I Love the Rain” and as the sky opened up it couldn’t have been more fitting!  The snowflakes today created a lot of excitement at school and made it clear Mother Nature is not quite ready to give up winter!  It’s hard to believe it is March already.

I want to share my gratitude to you for helping us live our vision of a “community engaged and unified” in helping each child access relevant and meaningful school experiences. The awesome attendance at that second-grade music program was a stunning example as has been the appreciation and recognition shown for our senior students wrapping up their last winter season activities and sports at North Marion High School.

Thank you to the families who made time to attend our middle school parent family night last night and to those who shared so much care and support as chaperones for our second-grade students who visited the Oregon Zoo on a cold and snowy Monday.

We also want to thank everyone who participated in Literacy Day today.  The families, teachers, support staff, administrators, Board members, state officials, volunteers, and amazing students, who pitched in to read to classrooms and foster a love for reading were inspirational.

A special appreciation goes out to the Aurora American Legion members for sharing their time and support for our second-grade flag ceremony last week. Their commitment to honoring our nation's flag and its history is deeply appreciated.

And to the exceptional contributions of the North Marion Service Team and the organizations they represent for the resources, care, and connection they provide to our students and families. Your efforts behind the scenes to support the diverse needs of our community ensure that every child and family has what they need.

With these and the many other partnerships evident in our schools, we are truly moving our mission to “learn together to cultivate lifelong growth” in North Marion. Our community’s support combined with the purposeful work of our teachers, support staff, and students create possibilities that could never exist without the work you do together.

Thank you for giving us so much to celebrate!

With Spirit,

Bill
